Rotem Weinberg

Israeli conductor Rotem Weinberg is a cross-genre musician, at home in classical, operatic, and pops repertoires alike. In his native Israel, Rotem led numerous ensembles, achieving national acclaim as a conductor and educator.  In spring 2020, he earned a doctoral degree in orchestral conducting from the University of Michigan, where he also earned his master’s degree. At Michigan he served as the music director of both the Michigan Pops Orchestra and the Campus Symphony Orchestra, leading these ensembles to new heights. His undergraduate studies took place in the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University. Rotem’s conducting teachers include Kenneth Kiesler, Yoav Talmi, Yi-an Xu, Ronen Borshevsky, and Vag Papian. He participated in masterclasses with world renowned conductors, including Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, and Zsolt Nagy. He received many honors and awards for his conducting and musicianship, including the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Excellence Grant in Orchestral Conducting.
